Format your standard linux partitions as ext3, vmkcore, swap, and the rest of the drive should be VMFS3 so you can host your VMs. Here's more details with partition

Which Icy box NAS do you have?

Does it have isci functionality?

I would definitely go with ext3 as this is the lastest and greatest linux format.

You will most likely have to configure it as an NFS share for connectivity with your ESX boxes.

Plenty of information and instructions on how to set up NFS datastores online.

Good Luck

It doesnt seem like it from the OC.UK website.

You'll just have to configure it as a NFS server, and share out the disk space via NFS protocol.

Good Luck
