Max vmfs volume on a esx server ?

Folks,

When, I read Config Maximum guide (Pg 3) for ESX 3.02, I see that the max number of Luns supported is 256 and when I read Install and Upgrde guide (Pg 28) , it says 128 volume is supported per ESX system. Which one is right ?

NOTE

Although ESX Server supports up to 256 Fibre Channel LUNs for operation, the installer supports a maximum of 128 Fibre Channel SAN LUNs. If you have more than 128 LUNs, connect them after the installation is complete.

This means that installer would see only 128 LUNs but it is supported 256.

I am aware of that, but if you read the install and upgrde guide, it states that it supports only 128 volumes. No where it is mentioned that, this is only during the time of installation.

Both are correct.

256 LUNs on an installed and running ESX system

128 LUNs during the installer process.
