Login Error after install of ESX 3.5

Hi,

I'm new to VMWare and have just installed 3.5 on my my Dell PowerEdge 2950.

I chose the recommended options and it all went through fine and rebooted.

Now when it asks for a login I entered "administrator" and the password I set during the install however it says it failed.

I have also tried it through the web interface but still get a login error.

Have I missed something? What is the login I should be using?

Thanks,

Helena

Hi,

During the setup process of the ESX you had to enter the password for the root user.

Use this for the login.

this is what I have been using. I even reinstalled it and changed the password because I thought I had set it wrong.

the login is just administrator, isn't it?

The default user for ESX 3.5 is "root". During the setup you had to enter a password for it.

So try to login with root and the password you did use fro it.

So...now that I have logged in, how will I go about creating my first instance.

I feel like a complete twit, but I just haven't done this before.

I think I've got it....through the infrastucture client, right....

Correct - you will use the VMware INfrastructure Client - check out these PDFs for additional information
