License

Hi,

I want to retrieve the license key number of the license generate on my ESX server.

In ESX 2.5.2, in the license file, we have a field name Serial = "23jJK-34ljk". Is it this field?

In ESX 3.x, what is the field or where can we find this information?

Thanks you very much.

Get it from the VM Ware account on the web. The are access codes. The are listed on the site.

i think you have to use the VI client to put the license source in.

I've been through this with VMware, there is no way from the license file to tell a serial number. Like Richard said, your best bet is to go to VMware and get a consoliated list of all your purchases. That list will have activation numbers.

So , In ESX 2.5.2, the serial number we see in /etc/vmware/license.cfg is not the same as the activation key? ....

in VI3 the license files are actually, just that, license files. The have an extension of .lic, so with VI3, there is no way to pull that type of information out of the license file.
