License Server Crashing

Sorry if this has been answered before, but I can't find anything similar on the forums.

I've got a Win2K3 server as my Management server (HP BL25p blade). I can install Virtual Center (v33643) and everything works, but I can crash the license server easily, by simply selecting the 'System Settings' tab. Everything else works as advertised, and crashing the license server doesn't affect any of the other VMWare services, but it's driving me nuts trying to figure out what the problem is. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi

.net framwork problem, do you have any other applications that might be using .net framework? try reinstalling it.

Never thought of that. I'll give it a shot.

Thanks.

abacka, do any event viewer messages give some insight to the situation? Also, in the meantime you might want to consider setting the Service to automatically restart if it fails. I like to set it to restart after 5 minutes myself.

1. I can't find any evidence .net is installed. Weird.

2. It's the utility that dies, not the service itself. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

If you installed any other applications since the license server was installed i would have reinstalled the license service.

this what i would do as the next logical step because this sounds like a problem with the license tools application.

try it, see if it helps. just save the license file from /program files/vmware/vmware license server/vmware.lic i dont know if it will be saved.
