Hi, all --
We have a KVM virtual machine running latest Ubuntu on a Ubuntu host.
We need to migrate this VM to a VMWare ESX farm run by out data center.
Is this migration as simple as moving the virtual disk file to the data center, or is there a more elaborate migration process? What tools would we need, and who supplies them??
I'm hoping this will be very easy. I can't seem to find any information on this.
Thanks!
You will likely need to use vmware converter to do this....you cant just move the file.

Thanks ...
I looked at the VMWare Converter page (http://www.vmware.com/products/converter/features.html) and it says a lot. However, on the subject of VM images, this seems to be the authority:
Source third party images: Microsoft Virtual Server, Microsoft Virtual PC, Parallels Desktop, Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery (formerly called Live State Recovery), Norton Ghost, Acronis, and StorageCraft
I don't see KVM in there, but maybe it's because I don't know KVM ... or what it's equivalent to.
I also checked the interoperability matrix in the release notes: http://www.vmware.com/support/converter/doc/releasenotes_conv401.html and on p19 of the manual (http://www.vmware.com/pdf/converter_standalone_guide401.pdf). KVM isn't there, either.
Is there somewhere else I should be looking for this info??
Thanks!
You should convert this as though it were a physical to virtual (e.g. from your live running KVM to a VMware VM).
