Hi everyone,
I'm doing a test drive of ESX 3.5 and VC2.5, and I've ran into a small glitch. First, here's what I'm doing. I'm running ESX 3.5 virtualized inside Worstation 6. Runs fine. I built myself a Win2003 Enterprise Server sp 2, and I'm running it as a virtual machine as well. Set it up to run AD, works great. Downloaded VC2.5, installed it, and it installs and runs fine minus two things. First, Update Manager simply fails to install. VM Convertor Enterprise on the other hand throws an error message (goes by rather quickly), and then rolls back the installation.
I'm running this on sql 2005 Express (since it is a test install, and didn't want to go through all the brain damage of setting up a SQL or Oracle server). I've still over 15 Gbs of disk space free, and I built it with 1000 mbs of RAM. Really don't have anything to point at that could be a potential problem, so any suggestions appreciated.
Rich
Does the Update Manager-installation give you any errormessage, and if so, what does it say? The same goes for the Converter-installation.
During the installation of Update Manager and Converter you have to give proper login to VirtualCenter, be sure that the credentials are correct or nothing will work. The credentials are not verified immidately, so try that and be sure to type in the correct letters and symbols.

Let me give it shot this evening, (the machine is at home). When I built it, I'd setup a seperate user name for VirtualCenter, and used that to isntall with. makes sense what you suggest. I'll reinstall, and let you know.
I ran into the same problem with converter and update manager. The workaround I did was run the .exe's manually on the CD for converter and udpate manager (it will be in one of the subfolders on the CD) and it completed successfully. When I ran it from the autorun popu it failed..
Worked like a charm. Thanks for the insight.
I'm glad it worked out, have fun with your new version!
