Intel Pro 1000 PT Quad Port in IBM 3850

I'm currently building replacement ESX servers on IBM x3850 servers utilizing the Intel Pro 1000 PT quad port NIC in a PCIe slot. I have the necessary patch installed. I am able to see all the NICs in esxcfg-nics, but when I plug a cable into port 1 on the card, port 3 ALSO shows as online. Similar response happens with port 2, port 4 ALSO comes online.

Anybody seeing this. I have an SR started with VMWare, but wanted to check the community as well.

Is that NIC on the HCL for that server? Also, is it on the IBM HCL for the server? I ran into that problem with an x445. VMware supported the card, but the server did not.

I'm checking for official support with the hardware vendor. However, the issue has been resolved in the meantime.

The resolution is to install the 1.04 firmware update. You will not get this from the current IBM general update cd's, but it needs to be downloaded and applied. This was confirmed with VMWare and also by another poster on another thread.
