Installing ESX on a VM

I want to try out the VMware Infrastructure 3 trial that's available. My question is it possible to install ESX on a VM?

thanks.

You can install both ESX 3.5 and ESXi 3.5 in a VM on VMware Workstion 6. You won't be able to power up a VM on ESX though - this should be fixed (although not support) in Workstation 6.5. The guide below is for ESX 3.0 but you can follow the same steps for ESX 3.5. ESX 3.5 and ESXi 3.5 do ship with a number of drivers for SATA controllers so you may have some PCs that ESX will run on - see the 2nd link for a sample of systems that will run ESX.

you can install it, but you can't run any VM's. You may want to install 3.0.2 in Workstation6, that will give you the ability to run VM's.

adding to this,, just make sure that your Processor is supporting VT technology... otherwise your esx performance is too ... bad ..
