ISDN Card possible in ESX 3.0.2

Hi there,

is ESX 3.0.2 compatible with PCI ISDN Cards? I guess not, but I am not sure. We like to set up a virtual W2k3 Server with ISDN Fax & RAS functionality.

Any experiences with that?

Best...Andy

You are correct ISDN is not supported in ESX - telephony apps are one of the applications that have a tough time translating to virtual on ESX

Is anyone aware if telephony apps would be in VMware roadmap?

Hello,

If the card is not on the IO HCL then it is not supported. ISDN is definitely not on the HCL. However there are USB Anywhere and Serial Port Anywhere devices from Digiboard that may solve your problems. You would need to use a physical ISDN device however and not a card.

VMware does not release its future items to anyone unfortunately. You should open a request for improvement with your VMware Support Representative or Sales Representative. This way they can track how many customers need which hardware. Also, most Telephony apps are Real Time apps. Those do not play well in the virtual infrastructure either.
