I am having an error when I installing VM Tools...!

I have upgraded from ESX v2.5.2 servers to ESX v3.0.

Then upgraded the VM's hardware and VM Tools, all upgrade went ok apart from one VM I had an error message when I tried to update the vm tools, which is "Error:1714.The older version of VMware Tools cannot be removed".

The CD is pointed to the right direction, and the user name privilege has the admin access but still having this problem

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Thanks for your co-operation

Kind regards

Hello,

Before upgrading VMware Tools you will need to physically remove the old vmware-tools and reboot your server. Then you can update your VMs.

Best regards,

Edward

Hello,

Generally this points to a driver interaction issue. Be sure to remove all hardware agents from the VM as well as any hidden devices that are not in use as well as the vmware-tools.

Best regards,

Edward
