How many NICs on VM

Hello everybody,

I have a VM acting as router for several private networks to world wide networks on a ESX 3.5.

At the moment the VM has four NICs and I want to add two more.

The problem is that is not possible. The ESX server gives me a message that the maximum number of PCI devices has been reached.

So to my question: Is it possible to increase the number of PCI devices in the configuration or is it a hard limit for every VM?

Kind regards

Michael

the maximum number of vNICs you can give a VM is 4
