Help with fudged permissions

Hi, I have been a total noob and made a pretty big mistake that I am hoping someone can help with. I have been working with ESX3i for a while and always used the root login as it was only a few of us using the systems. We use the VI client. We (in IT) are being taken over by an external company and we were asked to give one of their tech's access to the hosts. I created the users and added them to the localadmin group. When I tested the login I could not connect, so I googled it and it appeared as though I needed to add permission for the group (or person). I added read-only permission for the group localadmin. Only afterwards did I realise that the root user is also in this group! Is there a way that I can fix this using the RCLI? I think that these permissions are only based on the VI client (or hope so). Please let me know if you have any solutions for this real schoolboy error! We do not have virtual centre.

P.S. I have done this on 2 hosts, one is ESX4i one is ESX3i

Hi guys, ok after some googling I found the answer. I used vicfg-user to create a new user with admin permission, then reverted the permission setting on localadmin group. Thanks anyway!
