Fiber Connected Library on Host

Has anyone tried making a direct connected library using fiber available to a vm?

I'm trying to do a test lab and we need a library to do the restores but none of my hosts (Dell 2950s) have room for a scsi card.

If I understand you correctly you are looking to connect to a fiber based tape library and accessing directly as from a VM - I think if you can present the library as a LUN you might be able to use an RDM to allow the VN to connect to it natively -
