Error on new installation

Hi

I have just installed ESX 3.5 on 2 new HP DL580 G5 servers. They have 2 72Gb HDD configured in a mirror, they are 2 CPU quad core machines.

I installed ESX yesterday to run for a few days to ensure that I don't get any issues with the hardware and noticed that I had the following error on one of the servers:

"0:00:01:39.145 cpu2:1039)Mod: 1413: Initialization for vmfs2 failed with -1"

Interestingly I got the same message on the other server but referencing cpu3.

Does anybody have any idea what the issue is if it is indeed and issue.

Kind regards

Andy

Hey,

Check your /etc/hosts file with a linux editor, vi or nano etc, and make sure you have an entry for your ESX host.

Good Luck

Hi Guys

I think I have just realised what the issue is. As I'm just running the servers to check for hardware errors I didn't bother giving them IP addresses etc.

So this would answer the problem. I'll assign some IP addresses now.

Cheers

Andy
