I am building a home lab, and would like to know if the following specifications will work for ESX 3.5 update 3.
MotherBoard - GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R P45 775 R
Memory - 2Gx2|OCZ OCZ2RPR10664GK R
Hard Drive - 160G Wetsern Digital 7K 8M SATA2
CPU - INTEL C2Q Q8300 2.5G
Thanks.
Check it against the HCL.
Tried that, was hoping that it just wasn't listed.
It might be best to invest in VMware Workstation and load ESX within a VM.

I was thinking about that, but I need to have bare metal ESX to emulate a produciton environment.
This method is outstanding for a home lab. ESX on bare metal is always better if you have user load or if doing performance testing/tuning. If you are not, I am not sure why you list this requirement.
You can always rent a HCL listed server as well. Have done this for demos before. I love it. They may even deliver and pick-up!

I decided to go with the following. Can someone please cross-reference it for ESX 3 update 3
CPU - Q6600 Quad-core
Motherboard - Intel BOXDQ35JOE
Hard Drive - 1x160 GB 7200 rpm Western Digital SATA
Net Card - Intel PWLA8391GT 10/ 100/ 1000Mbps PCI PRO/1000 GT Desktop Adapter
RAM - OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB 240-Pin DDR2 (8gb) OCZ2RPR10664GK R
Thanks.

You might want to look at community supported hardware/software:
Its a way to get help with unsupported combinations of hardware and software.
You can also just TRY to install it. If it works, you win.
Thanks, I'll give it a whirl, and post if it works.
