I need to trun off the portaion of the ESX 3.5 that hands out DHCP address so i can convert servers that have static address. How do i accomplish this? Thank you ahead of time.
ESX doesn't have a component that hands out DHCP addresses. Workstation and Server do that for NAT and Host only networking, but not ESX.
If your servers already have static addresses then they shouldn't be requesting DHCP addresses anyway.
Hello,
DHCP Client or Server. The client grabs DHCP addresses just for the service console. If you do not use DHCP then the client is not enabled. The best practice install is NOT to use DHCP.
There is NO DHCP Server as part of ESX, however Workstation and VMware Server do provide that functionality. If you are getting DHCP addresses then there is a DHCP server on the network you are using.
