ESX 3.02 Upgarde from 3.01 resulted in keyboard not working on console?

The keyboard on the console works perfectly on our ibm bladecenter up untill I have to press alt f1, there nothing works, not even numlock. I tried twice, once using I think its called English US and then using English International keyboard setups in the install. (upgraded from a cd)

Only started to upgrade one host before I go on, anyone know what could be wrong?

Yes!

I find a solution.

Utility Veeam Configurator 1.0 for VMware Infrastructure 3 (http://www.veeam.com/veeam_configurator.asp) enables SSH for root.

It's working.

Thaks to All.

Hello

1. Are u using an USB or a PS/2 keyboard. Have you tried using both the keyboards?

2. In the keyboard selection page are you seleting standard keyboard and the language correctly?

3. Have you tried clicking on the text installed instead of graphic installer?

4. Try to use a new keyboard ...seems stupid but might still work \!!!

give it a shot !!!!

If any of these works...request you to award points for the same.

I just ran into the same situation, after upgrading 4 ESX 3.01 servers to 3.02 I was no longer able to give keyboard input from the Remote Control applet. We were able to login using ssh, so no problem but off course we want to use the Remote Console.

I guess we are not alone Smiley Happy

Hello Every one we encoutered the same issue when we upgraded our ESX 3.0.1 to 3.0.2 and the keyboard stop working using the blade center MM.

what i would like to add is you dont this when you build ESX 3.0.2 directly. i.e. no upgrade.

we are still looking for a solution

Damn, then its either back to 3.01 or reinstall 3.02 from scratch.

Since its just one host for me in our test envirment then its ok.

Thanks for the help.

Hi TCP,

I use PuTTY via SSH.

But you have to enabled it on the file/etc/ssh/sshd_config ("PermitRootLogin yes" instead of "PermitRootLogin no") before you do the update.
