ESX 3.01 to 3.02 upgrade

Have been putting off upgrading my production servers for ages, but now need to bite the bullet and get it done!

Is it recommended to have the 3.01 servers fully patched before starting the upgrade to 3.02?

Thanks

Hello,

After upgrading VC to the latest, then upgrade to 3.0.2 Update 1 (New ISO image off the VMware site). Then there are also a new set of patches for everything available as of January. I suggest using the esxautopatch.pl from www.vmprofessional.com as that is uptodate and applies all the new patches for Update 1 in the proper order.

There's no need to patch your 3.0.1 installation before upgrading to 3.0.2.

I would suggest that you consider upgrading to 3.0.2 Update 1 in stead, which contains quite a few important fixes that were release post-3.0.2. (Contrary to what its name might imply, 3.0.2 Update 1 does not require that 3.0.2 must be present before you upgrade to it.)

And if you are using Virtual Center, make sure to upgrade that before your hosts.
