Hi, we are planning to upgrade our ESX servers to versin 3.0.2 and VCenter to 2.0.2.
The VC release notes says: "Migrate all Virtual Center-related data from the master database to the new database."
Does anyone have a step by step guide to do this ?
Regards
Johann Folkestad
Are you actually migrating our database, or "only" upgrading?
If the database is remaining in the same location, there is no "need" to migrate.
The information is actually in the VC 2.0.2 release notes.
Microsoft SQL Server Pre-installation Tasks
If your current VirtualCenter installation is configured to use an ODBC System Data Source Name (DSN) that points to the master database, perform the following tasks:
Create a new database for VirtualCenter Server.
Stop the VirtualCenter Server service.
Migrate all VirtualCenter-related data from the master database to the new database. Database objects associated with a VirtualCenter installation start with 'VPX.' It is advisable that the data migration be performed by a qualified database administrator (DBA).
Modify the ODBC System DSN used by your VirtualCenter installation to point to the new database.
