ESX-1003176 procedure?

I've got a question about the deployment of ESX-1003176. In the knowledge base article (http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=100317... ) the patch it has a "deployment consideration" that you stop the webaccess and mgmt services before deploying the patch. However the Installation Instructions don't mention those steps.

Do you think we need to build commands into our automated patching scripts to start and stop these services or are those steps optional?

Hello,

I use esxautopatch.pl from www.vmprofessional.com instead as it does everything you need for that patch. There is no need to start and stop as the patch will do that for you.
