Changing Hostbased license to license server

Hi,

I currerntly have 4 ESX VI 3 machines configured to use a license server. But 1 machine is still configured as host base license.

Can I change the licensing while I have multiple production machines up and running?

Thanks

Jonas,

Make your changes from the VI client (don't forget to back up) and you should only have to restart the Windows License Server Service.

Should have no impact on the VMs

Before you do this make sure you have configured all the licenses to accommodate your server, this will be done from the VI client connected to the virtual center server, go to "admin" and then "licenses". there you will see if you configured your licenses correct.

If so, Go to VI client to configuration of the ESX server.

go to "Licensed features", click edit on "license source" and change it to "Use license server".

all this can be done with all your VM's up and running, dont worry.

Many thanks for the answers.

My question is completely answered.

I'll perform the changes tomorrow.

Kind regards,

Jonas
