CPU Resource Shares all set to custom 1117

Could someone help me understand why most of my single CPU machines have custom values of 1117? No one in my group seems to know who changed this or why. We do not use resource pools. We have a few 2vCPU machines and a few machines w/ higher CPU shares (2000 or 4000 for example) but I was expecting to find most of them on normal: 1000.

Prior to VCu2 and ESX3u3 there was a feature that changed the resource shares when the patches were applied. If i remember correctly this was more a VC issue then a ESX issue. Either way, I was told that it was fixed in VCu2 and I haven't seen the issue since. After the VCu2 upgrade I did have to adjust aall the modified resources one last time.
