but i can ping both the new host and the License server from a workstation
can ping other computers from new host on that subnet unless they are VMs
Can ping anything from license server except new host...
Any Ideas?
Have you checked the ESX Firewall on the host?
Not yet I did not think of that I will look now
Firewall setting same as other hosts so its not that...
Are you trying to ping this server using the IP address or the hostname?
Is it a name resolution issue.
Are they on the same subnet? Is the gateway address set correctly on the ESX host?
MR-T dns works when i ping host name it resolves to ip but cant get there
mittell
same subnet not sure where to check gateway looked under networking in VI and could not find it
Is your License Server on one of th VMs you cannot ping?
Yes it is! but I can ping from my workstation! And I can ping it from a physical server on the subnet
Can you try this from the license server?
>telnet "ESX Host IP" 27000
In the VI client click the host -> click configuration tab -> DNS and routing. But if it's on the same subnet it shouldn't matter.
Gateway is set up same as other existing servers (found it under configuration- DNS and routing)
Connection failed on try telnet "host IP" 2700
and i did but numbers for host ip
Connecting To xxx.xxx.xxx.193...Could not open connection to the host, on port 27
000: Connect failed
Recheck your firewall settings on your ESX host. Try it from the service console. Also try re-enabling the License Server Ports (27000, 27010) on the host.
still the same wonder if i need to restart the esx server? Wait probably not its not windows.
You can try restarting the mgmt-vmware service.
service mgmt-vmware restart
Not there yet It is really strange
Maybe a reboot of the host would be a good idea.
