Add VMWARE Server machine to Infrastructure client

Hello

I don't know if this is the right foru mor not, but I am trying to add one of my VMWARE servers to the VMWare Infrastructure client. The server is Running the latest version of VMWare server on W indows 2003. When I adda host, and put in the machine name and login information, it can detect the model, version numer, and even the VM's running on the machine. After I continue through all the prompts, it tells me a general system error occurred: internal error. My account is an admin on the box, so I am not sure why it wouldn't be working.

Can anyone help me? I would be happy to provide screenshot if necessary.

Thanks, Brandon

Is that just VMware server as in free version or VMware ESX server the paid for enterprise version? From reading your post thats the problem as you say its on win server 2003.

VI Client is used to connect to an ESX server or virtual center server.

Yeah, it's the free version of VMWARE server.

Thanks, it just seems like it is almost possible, since it pertty much detects evertyhing. Do you know if there is a product that will allow you to monitor this? Basically something to monitor ESX and VMWARE Server in the same window?

There did used to be an extra payable option for an interface similar to virtual center for the free vmware server product to monitor performance. But looking around I think thats dissappeared now since ESX and VC came out into the mainstrream.

Hello,

VMware Server V2 no longer has the VC plugin. To get that you need to stay at V1 and pay some $$s to get it.
