Does this need reboot? How do I know I need reboot on esx? I only know reboot with linux on kernel upgrade but with the rest of rpm, you don't need. Probably not but second opinion works best.

Thank you for any comment you my add.

check http://support.vmware.com/selfsupport/download/

There will be a KB associated with every patch, it will tell you if your host needs a reboot or not.

My opinion, if you are going to patch, put your Host(s) into maintenace mode and reboot when complete.

I agree. If you're going to patch, reboot the server.

Actually the patch is already there, but I don't know if it's really there?

esxupdate query | egrep "1008406|1008409|1008408"

ESX-1008406 11:46:42 04/06/09 Updated vim packages

ESX-1008408 11:48:34 04/06/09 Update for BIND RPMs

ESX-1008409 11:49:11 04/06/09 Service Console Package OpenSSL

So I don't need to install the patch right. Sorry for my ignorance, it's my first time patching an ESX server.

Please let me know if I still need to patch the server according to the information I have here.

By the way, all the KB, didn't mention about reboot.

<div>Virtual Machine Migration or Reboot Required</div>

<div>No</div>

<div>ESX Server Host Reboot Required</div>

<div>No</div>

Thank you for any comment you may add.
