how do you prepare for vcp-dt5 beta exam?

Hi,

I got an invite for the vcp-dt5 beta exam, because I'm barely new to desktop and app virtualization, I scheduled my exam at 20th Dec.

What I read about the beta exam is, that there will be all possible questions from the whole exam catalouge.

So I began to download and study the official View5.0 documentation (Install, Planning, Administation and Security PDF's) and built my Lab.

1 x DC

1 x VC 4.1

1 x ESXi 4.1 (used existing Lab to save time :smileylaugh:)

2 x View Connection Server

2 x View Security Server

1 x View Transfer Server

I think install, configure and admin the View Enviroment is not that difficult.

But configuring certificates, the whole AD and Client (prepare Win7, XP, sysprep and Thinapp) stuff is a big chapter.

On which Objectives should I focus more?

To know how View and Thinapp works and/or the whole AD and Client stuff too? :smileyconfused:

In the email you have also the link of the blueprint.

Study each objective of it.

I got the blueprint and i learn each objective, but some objectives are very comprehensive, like thinapp and certificates...

In the View Administation PDF there are only 18 pages about ThinApp. But the ThinApp manual are 146 pages. In the blueprint isnt any information about the ThinApp manual to study. I think I will not spend too much time in ThinApp packaging...

My Lab is growing and growing

ps. Sorry for the bad english, I'm not a native speaker

For ThinApp I suggest to use this doc:

http://www.vmware.com/pdf/thinapp47_manual.pdf

For Certs check all the part related to the AD configuration.

And remember also the kios mode...

And Persona Management that is new in View 5.

About the language don't worry... My English is worse Smiley Happy

Just follow the blueprint and all the documents from the below link. Additionally GUI experience with View Administrator will sure help you to clear the exam with a score above 400.

I did the same for VCP4-DT. When I entered the exam center I was prepared to answer a question without seeing the multiple choices. VMware documents helped me 80%.
