Why VMWare doesn't update their Training Materials?

Hi,

I have noticed that VMWare Training Materials are not comply to the lates version of vSphere Product, but the exams are on the latest vSphere product!!!

I'm attending What's New course to upgrade from VCP3 to VCP4. While I'm searching and reading, I have seen most of the blogers and in the VMWare community they recommend to prepare for the exam with the latest product documentation..

So, if the exam is based on the latest product version, why the Training Materils are still focusing on the 4.0 version? Shouldn't be the latest version.!!

Thanks,

S.Hussain

As I said, it's normally the "latest version as the course is released", to give you some examples What's New is based on 4.0, Manage for Performance and Troubleshooting are based on 4.0 Update 1, Install Configure Manage is based on 4.1.

I can't comment on why the material is not updated permanently, however I think it's just a matter of time and cost. In addition the question is, if it is really worth it and if students would be willing to pay a higher price for the courses!?

Anyway, regarding the exam, I'd suggest you read some of jonhall's posts (e.g. http://communities.vmware.com/message/1681431#1681431) where he explains what is included in the exams and what is not.

For the exam, it makes no difference whether your course is 4.0 or 4.1 based.

If you had read the course description on the VMware Education site you would also have seen this: following the completion of this course, you will receive a voucher number in email that entitles you to attend for free the 70-minute What’s New in VMware vSphere 4.1 self-paced eLearning course.

VMware make a decision on each individual course as to what version it will be based on, it's normally the latest version when a course is released.

Scott.

Good Morning,

What's the different between paying higher amount or smaller amount? If I pay higher I will be getting 4.1 study materials and if I pay less such for What's New 4.0 course which is only 1495 $ I will get 4.0 materials? Smiley Happy

I have VCP-410 Exam Exam Blueprint Version 1.7 19 January 2011. All the URL points to the latest vSphere Documentation which is 4.1. All what's mentioned in this thread http://communities.vmware.com/message/1681431#1681431 is to study the latest 4.1 materials.

I encourage VMWare to update their Students materials on each version they release, rather than confusing their students / users on what materials to study or let them study double materials 4.0 and 4.1

Scott.

If it's normally the latest version, why the student's materils are not based on the latest study version? VMWare is on 4.1.

You don't need to study the 4.0 AND 4.1 materials, all current VMware certification exams are applicable to both software versions, think of the exams as being 4.X. That's part of the reason why VMware decided not to update the training materials, the other main reason being the cost - all training content is produced internally.

Some course are updated (for example Install and Configure is based on 4.1).

Others not.

But, for exam purpose, none course could be enough.

You must integrate with a documents reading.

See the official blueprint.
