Hi friends,
Please advice me, i want to do cloud computing and my friends suggested me to do VMware before i start cloud.
- Is that a good idea to gain knowledge on VMware before entering into cloud.
- if so , which certification is best. (i got VCP as suggestion)
- Which certification is best in cloud...??
Thanks in Advance.
Hi,
Very open question. Most likely, you'll get very different answers. Here's mine:
- Yes. VMware is leader in virtualization and the first one in introduce a "cloud" operating system with vSphere 4.0
- VCP-DV is the first certification you should start with if you want to know how to operate vSphere. VMware offers an ecosystem of solution in which vSphere is only one piece (a critical one, but still one). In order to avoid making any investment, I would recomend to first go with online free education (accreditations, like VTSP). You will able to find it in VMware Partner University (if you are a partner). Otherwise, there are a lot of really good books about it. That would reduce your initial investment in education from 3-4 thousand dollars to 30-50 dollars.
- This one is difficult. VMware is one manufacturer that has a cloud solution (best or not the best, that will depend who you ask). From my point of view, best certification you could get is VCDX from VMware.

There is a new one specially cloud oriented
VCDX-Cloud
Best of lucks!

1. Yes I would, many commercial providers and companies base their clouds on vSphere and vCloud Director, if not the full vCloud Suite.
2. VCP5-DV is a good starting point, or the new VCP-Cloud - see here: http://www.vmware.com/certification
3. VMware's would be the VCP-Cloud as above (leading up to VCDX-Cloud), there are other vendors offering a cloud certification (eg. EMC, IBM)
Hi , i'm just back from my holidays.
Thanks scott28tt and elgreco81 for your answers.
This really helps my research.
