What exam can I take ?

Guys

I've completed the Vsphere 5 whats new course (I don't have any previous certs in vmware) but I want to get the VCP5 certification.

There seems to be alot more exams than I remember. Which exam do I need to take ? VMware Certified Professional 5 – Data Center Virtualization (VCP5-DCV) Exam?

Hope you can help

vSphere 5 Whats new is for people who have VCP4-DCV certification and wants to do VCP5-DCV.

To do VCP5-DCV you need to attend a authorized course

VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage [V5.1]

have you had any hands-on experience with VMware vSphere? If you want to start fresh you better take VCA-DCV which is a associate level certification which does not have any qualifying trainings.

Here's the link to VCA-DCV

If you want VCP5-DCV your What's New course alone won't help qualify you.

If you are skilled enough that What's New was a good course for you, taking Install Configure Manage or Fast Track would qualify you in terms of the certification and help towards exam preparation but I'd suggest you wouldn't learn a great deal in terms of the product/features.

Assuming that's the case, look at taking one of these vSphere courses:

- Optimize & Scale

- Troubleshooting Workshop

All course requirements are well described in the official certification page:

(VCP5-DCV) VCP-Datacenter Virtualization

Ah ok , looks like I have done the correct courses (VSphere 4.1. , install , Conf , Manager ) & Vsphere 5 What's New.

I'm working with the products over 3 years now , so now just to get the head down and study.

I'll book the exam for 6/8 weeks away to get myself motivated.

Aha - you didn't say about your vSphere 4.x class... Yes you qualify for VCP5-DCV, good luck for the exam.
