VCP6-DCV Delta or normal DCV

Hi,

Can anyone explain the difference between the delta exam and the normal DCV exam?  I know it's a streamlined version aimed at those with expiring certification, but when I look at the topics they are practically the same - what's the benefit of taking the delta?

The Delta exam is aimed to people that hold a valid VCP5-DCV and have only 45 questions. The "full" exam should have more questions, but still not determined according with exam page: VMware Certified Professional 6 – Data Center Virtualization Exam

So you mean 2V0-621 and 2V0-621D right?

In theory, the D should only test on 5 > 6 differences given that it can only be taken by VCP5-DCV holders - so while both exams may test on the same feature the items might be different I suppose.

As neither exam has been released yet, it's tough to say anything else yet.

‌thanks, looking to be at vmworld and was thinking of taking this exam or the vcap.  my understanding is the vcap doesn't expire am I correct?

VCAP doesn't come with expiry date.

but the component underneath VCP would expire in 2 years time, so either you upgrade your VCP with new version exam or directly go ahead and sit for next level of advanced exam, which will automatically upgrade VCP certification under same certification track.

VCAP5-DCA/DCD appears to be last in that series as new set of advanced exams are now known as VCIX, refer following certification portal.

So both exams have the same questions just the delta have more questions then the non delta? Please tell me I am correct then I am going to win a bet with a know it all at work. He says he took the Delta and it had 65 questions BUT he won't show us his VCP cert

pbalderos  The questions for the Delta exam have a different question pool than the full VCP exam. The Delta exam will focus more on the new features (As the test candidate will already have passed a previous version/edition exam), where the full VCP will test candidates on more of the VCP skills.

VCP6-DCV and the VCP6-DCV Delta both have 70 questions. The Certification SME's who write the exams (I'm one of them) write completely new questions for the Delta. So I'm afraid you lost the bet 😉
