VCP410 with VMware:Install.... 4.0

Hi there

I have a question:

I have attended VMware VSphere 4: Install, Configure, Manage, course, but havent yet tried to have an exam and gain VCP410.

According to http://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=22519&ui=www_cert

if I am just starting vmware, I have to take the same course, but for 4.1???

Am I obliged to do so, or can I just take an exam, and be certified for VCP410?

thanks

VCP410 is for generic vSphere 4.x editions.

So just take the 4.1 course exam.

If you have taken the VMware VSphere 4: Install, Configure, Manage you have met the requirments and can sit the VCP410 exam.

Hi there,

Quite new to the VMware forum, apologies if this has been answered previously.

I am currently studying for a VCP4 Exam but haven't booked it yet as am not fully prepared yet.  My only worry is if there is a particular withdrawal date for the VCP4 exam, as I have read that until 29th February 2012, anyone who is VCP4 qualified can prepare for and take the VCP5 exam.  After this date they will need to attend a VMware authorised training center.

Does this mean that VCP4 will be withdrawn after 29th February 2012.  Would appreciate any advise / guidance as am quite worried about this.

there is no end date, as of now, for the VCP4 exam.  The Feb 29th date you speak of is for current VCP4 folks.  They can go direct to the exam without the need to sit any classes, after that, VCP4 folks will need to attend a "what's new" course

When will the VCP4 exam no longer be available?
There is no set deadline for retiring the VCP4  exam. A sufficient time period is always allowed before we retire an  exam to ensure that the time and expense spent preparing to take the  exam is not wasted. Please visit the VCP4 page on the VMware  Certification portal to follow announcements for the VCP4 exam  retirement.

Welcome to the forums.

Have you attended one of the qualifying vSphere 4 training courses for VCP4 certification? If not, passing the exam alone will not give you VCP4 certification. You are right that once you are a VCP4 then you can gain VCP5 by passing that exam before the end of February 2012 with no additional training requirement, but you have to fulfill the VCP4 requirements first.

There is no retirement date yet for the VCP4 exam.

Scott.
