VCP410 Passed - harder than I thought

Passed my VCP410 on Friday after 28 days of hard study after a FastTrack course back in December.

The FastTrack course was delivered on v4.0... which became a little confusing...

I'm sitting patiently awaiting my welcome pack from vmware... heard it takes around seven weeks.... anyone confirm? Smiley Happy

Thanks

Welcome to the forums and congratulations!

The wait time is usually 4-6 weeks for the printed certificate.

My path to success:

  • Exam Blue Print
  • vSphere 5 Whats New course
  • Train Signal Videos
  • Scott Lowes Mastering vSphere 5.0 (bible) book
  • VMware Mock exam.

  • Demo Lab: Having a system you can play with was essential for me: I had an eval system at work which I had sole use of. I used it to go through the steps outlined in the Course labs, books and vids and crossed off what needed to be learnt from the blueprint. In my view this is the best approach for anyone taking the exam. Ultimatly there was some parts of the Blueprint I couldn't cover and I relied on the Video training and Scotts book in these parts of the Blueprint (Auto deploy - Fibre network configuration etc....)

  • VMworld Sessions: VMworld in October was a massive help as well. I was able to revisit a number of the sessions (available online via subscription from the VMworld site):
    VSP1700, VSP1823, VSP1933, VSP2122, VSP2347, VSP2360,VSP3305, VSP3864, VSP3307

Not essential... but a great supplement!

  • Revision time: Lots and lots of revison time - make notes and then condense as required.

It also helps to have an understanding other half...... (mine has been calling herself a VCP widow the past couple of months) 😉

I'd say stear clear of dumps; they can give you a 'bum stear' and although they may give you a short cut to success - it will not benefit you in the long run!

Read all the blogs you can on from those who have taken the VCP exam - this will help you focus on the requirements of the Blueprint.

I found the Exam ok - in fact... if I compare with my experience of VCP 4 I would say that I found it easier than VCP 4.... but then I spent much, much more time studying for this exam.
