Hi,

I am working with VMware( ESX 2.5/3/3.5/4) from last 4 years. i have not taken any certification till now. now i want to take cetification. enquired about VCP 5 course and certification. i want to know which of the below option will make sense

1)VCP 4 course and certification, then go for VCP 5 upgradation ( before Feb 29 2012)

2)VCP 5 course and certification

3) any other better way for future....

Please suggest.

Thanks a lot in advance.... Smiley Happy

Really choices 1 and 2 are your only options to obtain your VCP - the major difference is Option 1 you have the time constarint of having to get your VCP 4 and then the vCP 5 exam before February 29 where whichi could be difficult since the opportunities to attend a vSphere 4 class are diminishing while Option 2 you will have more time to schedule the class and sit for the exam -

Since you seem to be familiar with 4.x, it might be easier for you to follow option 1. However, personally I would probably go for option 2 in your case.

You have few time to take the VCP4, but is not impossible.

If you can find a class and you booked your exam you can do first this and then go to the VCP5 exam (before the end of Feb)

Hi I will prefer option 2 and to improve knowledge you can do self study but no need the certification on VCP4.

Going for VCP 5 seem like a better option.

If VCP 5 -- VCP 5 training course and then VCP510 exam

else have to finish 2 trainings [VCP 4  training course and whats new in vSphere 5] and 2 exams[VCP 410 and VCP510]

You will need to take the Whar's New class only if you do not sit for and pass the VCP5 exam prior to February 29, 2012 -

You will struggle to find many vSphere 4 courses now, and if you were to follow option 1 you would have less than 3 months to find and attend a vSphere 4 course and pass BOTH VCP4 and VCP5 exams, if you don't complete that whole process by the end of February 2012 you will also have to attend a vSphere 5 course.

I would recommend option 2.

Scott.
