Steps require before ShutDown of VM Infra

Hi Friends,

I really need your help in this, as i need what all the steps tobe taken before and after, when the complete VMware Datacenter is going tobe Powered off (Some UPS Power Activity) i have 2 VMware Datacenter, For  VMware Datacente A  vCenter is installed in VM only and for VMware Datacenter B vcenter is installed on Physical Server,

And importantly in VMware Datacenter B Cluster,HA,DRS is enabled, so how and first what all VM i should power off and after that what all ESX i have to power off,

I require the steps to be performed this activity, You suggestion will help me a lot.

I agree with Idle-Jam, but I will add the shutdown of the SAN.

That should go after the last host, and for the turn up, it should be the first thing you turn up and wait for the SAN to come up.

Also the Network Switches and FIber switches if you have them, should be turned off at this point.

The idea is to stop all I/O, and you do that by shutting down VMs.

Hope it  helps.

Hi,

i think you have posted in the wrong forum. Anyway here are the steps:

login to vcenter via vsphere and power off all VMs except vcenter VM

login to esx01 via vsphere and shut down the vcenter VM if it's there and then right click the host to shut down

login to esx02 via vsphere and shut down the vcenter VM if it's there and then right click the host to shut down

and you then safe to off the san storage, san switch follow by the server.
