Questions prior to going for VCP-DCV 2022 ?

Hi All,

I'm planning to go for the VCP-DCV 2022 and had some questions not clear to me.

1) Can I choose any learning formats (Classroom, Live Online, vFlex-ILT, Onsite) to attempt the exam ?

1a) What is the difference between Classroom and OnSite aren't they both the same, physically attenting ?

1b) Difference between Live Online and vFlex-ILT (as understood both are online, anything other than that) ?

2) Which is best recommended to make the most in preparation for the exam ? (I like to ask questions and clarify, but I don't want to attend classes physically as I'm working)

3) How is ICM On-Demand different from ICM ?

4) What does the duration of 30 days means in ICM On-Demand ?

Only these for now.

Thank You

1) Can I choose any learning formats (Classroom, Live Online, vFlex-ILT, Onsite) to attempt the exam ? You mean "Will all of these options meet the training requirement for the VCP certification?" and the answer is "yes".

1a) What is the difference between Classroom and OnSite aren't they both the same, physically attenting ? Classroom means you go to a training centre and attend with other members of the public, on-site is usually a closed class at the customer/partner location where all students are from the same company.

1b) Difference between Live Online and vFlex-ILT (as understood both are online, anything other than that) ? https://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=40526&ui=www_edu

2) Which is best recommended to make the most in preparation for the exam ? (I like to ask questions and clarify, but I don't want to attend classes physically as I'm working) Of the training options? https://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=40526&ui=www_edu

3) How is ICM On-Demand different from ICM ? The labs are the same, but with on-demand you watch recordings of the instructor.

4) What does the duration of 30 days means in ICM On-Demand ? From when you start the training, you have access to the contents (recordings and labs) for 30 days.

Came to know about the below:

https://www.stanly.edu/future-students/it-academy/vmware-it-academy

https://www.clevelandcc.edu/program/vmware/

They offer the same VCP-DCV (ICM and OS) programs for about $200 each, not sure they are legit, how can I verify what they teach is accepted by VMware ? as spending ~$3000 is quite expensive.

Stanly are well known as a VMware IT Academy Partner, and Cleveland seem to be one as well if they’re offering ICM and O&S.

Worth considering if you’re paying for your own training (not through your employer) and you want to learn over a semester rather than in an accelerated way.

Thanks for clarifying that.

Can I know if the PSE version of the Exam results in the same Professional VCP certification ?

Yes, that’s how the VMware IT Academy program works, you take your training over a semester then must do the PSE version of the exam.

Thanks, and something on my mind that's not clear to me.

Both courses, Install, Configure, Manage (ICM) or Optimize & Scale (OS) are eligible for the VCP exam as seen on VMware site, and both colleges are also offering both of them.

Am I understanding correct that if I choose OS modules then the exam questions will be from what I have studied from the OS modules, and if I take ICM then the questions will be from the ICM modules that I have studied ?

There is just a single exam, the objectives can be found in the exam guide on this page: https://www.vmware.com/learning/certification/vcp-dcv-7-exam.html

There are MANY training courses which qualify you for being VCP certified, whether they cover the topics included in the exam or not. To see the full list of courses, select the "No VCP Certifications" path on this page and expand Step 2: https://www.vmware.com/learning/certification/vcp-dcv.html

You need to decide whether to do ICM or OS, if you take the VITA route for your training. If you do your training with VMware or through a VMware Authorised Training Center (VATC) then you have even more training options, as per the second link above. VITAs only offer ICM and OS, VMware and VATCs offer the full range.
