Passed VCP 5.1, now what?

I'm excited I passed. :smileysilly:

Now, I guess the next step is getting my certification validated by VMware.

Does anyone know how long does it take to receive my certificate and show it on myEducation portal?

Now to decide what path to choose with VMware.

Congratulation on the Pass gothicreader!!

You should receive an email from certifications@vmware.com  in 2-3 weeks about the exam confirmation and to confirm the shipping address to send the printe certificate

From FAQ's

How long after I pass the VCP5-DV Exam before I receive notification of my exam results?

Candidates will receive their score report from the Pearson VUE testing center at the time of exam completion. If you passed the exam and have also completed your course requirement, VMware will notify you that your certification has been achieved. Please expect 10-15 business days from your exam date for this notification, and for your certification to appear on your online transcript. Please expect up to six weeks for delivery of your printed certificate after confirmation of your address.

Congrats for the pass.

Now you have two options: go for the DV path and point to VCAP, or go to Cloud path and point to VCP-IaaS

This is the first time I hear about VCP 5.1. I went through VCP 5.0 training and am preparing for VCP 5.0 cert exam. Can I just study 5.0 materials and take 5.1 exam?

Excuse my ignorance. VCP510 is for VCP5.0.

VCP510 has always been the code for the VCP5-DV certification exam - but the exam itself has changed through it's life.

Initially the exam was specific to 5.0, it was updated about 3 months ago to make it applicable to both 5.0 and 5.1 - so there are no items in the exam where the answer is specific to one version or the other.

So although you did your training on 5.0 you can prepare using the current documentation and software if you choose - just download the current blueprint so you know what the exam objectives are.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm using ESXi 5.0 ISO to install a host, but can't download vCenter 5.0 as vMware website shows my trial expired. Any tips on getting a copy of vCenter 5.0?

Customers can still download all the 5.0 versions of ESXi and vCenter Server, but only the 5.1 versions are available for an evaluation download now.

You can manage a 5.0 host with 5.1 vCenter though...

@VKZ

If you have VMware Workstation - you can "nest" the ESXi server and vCenter. This is what I did to go over the work I performed during my week of training.

Here's an example you can use to help you create the environment.

There are others out there - but this should help in setting it up.

I hope this helps.

I saw some post that VCP 510 exam starts to include ESXi 5.1 like Single Sign On. Is it true that some 5.1 stuff will be included? Of course generally the exam should not be not 5.0 or 5.1 specific. Just to check.

Exam is still generic 5.x

But check the blueprint to verify it.

Not giving anything away here but I say my VCP510 exam this week and it was all generic vSphere 5 material, nothing specific to 5.1 and certainly no SSO questions.
