Observed IP ranges

How does vsphere 5 determine the observed ip range under the network adapters section.

By sampling broadcast packets received on the physical vmnic interfaces.

It's ARP(Address regulation protocol) and RARP (Reverse Address regulation protocol) which convert MAC to IP address and Ip address to MAC.

Scott,

Thanks for the quick reply. I am seeing the obeserved range changing every couple of ohours. Example 10.1.1.1-10.1.2.254 then it will go 10.1.1.1-10.1.1.254. This network i am on for this client is screwy to say the least.
