Memory/CPU Hot Plug

Hi,

I want to enable Hot Plug feature on linux vm which has oracle on it. But I am unable to get enable option. The only option i see is Disable CPU hot plug for this virtual machine the other two options are greyed out. I could enable Memory hot add for the same vm.

I enabled both features for SQL server vm.

SQL is in one cluster and Oracle is on another cluster.

Is this related to Operating System or permission on vCenter?

Regards,

Amit

You need a supported x64 (does not work on x86) Linux OS, like RHEL or SuSE.

If the Guest OS support Hot Plug the option to enable it will be present, but can only be enabled while the guest is powered off. Your guest OS may support hot plug for CPU, but not RAM

you can check the HCL to see if your guest OS supports hot plug

I think, but have not confirmed, that you'll need RHEL 6.
