Licience for WorkStation 9

When I passed the VCP 5 test I got a licience for WorkStation 8.  When I turned on my workstation today it prompts me for an upgrade to Workstation 9.

Does my licience works for Workstation 9 or it is Workstation 8 specific?

The license keys only work for a specific version and I don't think the complimentary license can be upgraded. However, you could try to see whether the license shows as upgradable in your My VMware account.
