Is VCP4 needed before VCP5?

Hi,

I have attented the ICM 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 plus what's new 4 and what's new 5 but never passed a VCP. On monday I'm sitting the VPC5 exam but wath happens when I pass Smiley Wink. Do I need the VCP4 (is looks like it)?? and do I need to take the VCP4 before the VCP5?? or can I take the VCP4 and then get cerdit for the VCP5 i hopefully passed??

best regards

Welcome to the community - According to http://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=12457&ui=www_cert without having taken one of the qualifying VCP classes you would not receive your VCP 5  until you either  become a VCP 4 by passing the VCP 4 exam or attending one of the qualifying classes for VCP5.

I would assume that it does not matter what order you take the VCP exams since it does not matter what order you take the exam and class in - but I would confirm with VMware certification - send the question to certification@vmware.com.

You won't be a VCP5 until you've also passed the VCP4 exam. It should not make any difference which way round you take the exams.

The courses are not enogh.

You must pass also the exam, and I suggest to focus on the VCP4 exam as soon is possible, because it can be removed in the next months.

SCOTT SAYS

"You won't be a VCP5 until you've also passed the VCP4 exam.

But I say you can directly do the ICM 5 then VCP 5.0 exam, you will get it without vcp 4.0 exam.

Whilst that may technically be true, it's not a path I would recommend. Someone who has already attended ICM on older versions won't learn a great deal attending ICM on vSphere 5, I've been teaching those courses since 2.5 right through to 5.0. It's also not a very cost-effective way to qualify for VCP5 given the training already completed in this case.

I am sorry SCOTT,

I mentioned your noun.

I just saw from the view that passing the older version (410) as a HURDLE , that too as it is available for a short speified time duration.

Any how what you explained is in the technical perspective.

Thanks a lot for kind and knowledged explaination.

Thanks & Regards

Smiley Happy
