IS it necessary to attend training course for VCP6-DCV?

Jump to solution

Hi folks,

I am planning to attempt for VCP6-DCV https://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=64178&ui=www_cert.This will be my first time attending this exam so as per Vmware , I need to follow Path 1 :

Point 2 - Attend one of the required training courses which are :

So my question is,what if I register and pass the exam without attending the course/attend it later at a convenient time? Will I still be counted as a certified VCP or  the course is a must before attempting the exam?

Thanks & Regards,

Siddhesh Jayawant

That's not correct - anyone can register for the vSphere Foundations exam, and a VCP exam - whether they have taken the training or not.

The 3 requirements for VCP (training, vSphere Foundations exam, VCP exam) can be completed in any order. No certification is awarded til all 3 elements are completed.

You cannot register for the exam if you have not taken and received credit for attending one of the required courses. So yes, you are required to take one of the listed courses if you are not already a VCP, and you must do so before being allowed to sit the exam.

Yes, you need to follow Path 1.

But, you can complete the 3 requirements (items 2/3/4 of the screen image) in any order you choose. No certification is awarded til all requirements have been met.

This is good to know yet represents a change from the past. In VCP 5 times, exam registration would not be scheduled until the class was taken and confirmed with VMware Education.

Hello,

I have just completed the "vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage [V6]" training course and I'm going to to take the foundation exam "2V0-620"

So my question is can I take the "2V0-621" exam without taking the training course " vSphere: Optimize and Scale [V6]" at a certified training center?

Thank you.

Mohammed

Yes, check path 1 on this page: VCP6-DCV Certification

Make sure you review the topics for the Foundations and VCP exams though:
