I am a VCP 3 / 5 and wish to get a VCP 4. Can I?

Hello All,

This is my first post @ VMware VCP community.

I am a VCP 3 / 5 and wish to write VCP 4, The reason being i want to do my VCAP-DCA 4.

1. Do i write the exam directly without any Pre-req?

2. If there is any Pre-Req what are they?

3. I already have VMware 4 - What's New in my learning plan which should be completed before 31 May 2012. Will this work?

Thank You

Ahmed Moseb

Welcome to the community.

How did you qualify for VCP5 in terms of training? Which vSphere 5 course did you attend?

The only way you personally can qualify for VCP4 is to attend a vSphere 4 course, the shortest/cheapest course would be What's New - but it has to be an instructor-led version of the course, and there are no dates scheduled anywhere in the world now, here's the proof: http://mylearn.vmware.com/portals/www/search/results.cfm?ui=www_edu&menu=search-results&searchtype=s...

Here's the VCP4 page which confirms the requirements: http://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=22519&ui=www_cert

I think you might be better waiting for VCAP5-DCA to become available, It is about to go through a beta process and should be available by the end of June (that's a guess rather than hard fact though as the date has not been announced yet.)

You could use the VCAP4-DCA blueprint as a guide to start your preparations for VCAP5-DCA, you'll find it on this page: http://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=16657&ui=www_cert
