I Passed My 410 Today, what I did.

I  passed today with a 332, I am a  little bummed it wasn't higher.  However from having zero real life experiance with  SAN & FC and, the fact that we just purchased  vSphere Advanced was I had a little less  hands on, other than LABs and ESXi.

I think my biggest mistakes  / challenges where hands down  Maxiums, followed by FC/SAN  where certainly the toughest.  My other big mistake is as am sure most of  you have IT jobs and IT is  never "slow", and study time when I could be  with my family is tough. I  should have taken the test shortly after the  5 day class instead of 3  months. I have my CCNA so the networking portion was pretty straight  forward, so that a relief.

The   resources I used besides obsessing over the VMware documentation honestly this is all the documetation you need and, it is shockingly easy to read and easy to understand, it's not a a  RFC doc  or TechNet article Smiley Wink

My list in no specific order :

VCP4 Exam Cram ( Elias Khnaser )

Mastering VMware vSphere ( Scott Lowe )

VMware vSphere 4.1 HR & DRS Technical deepdive ( Duncan Epping ) I am about 3/4 done but this is amazing good read.

A huge help probally the best was Simon Long's Blog :

http://www.simonlong.co.uk/blog/

3 trials of vSphere for my Labs, Fusion and Workstation.

While  people say the mock tests don't help and are a waist, I think is  inaccurate it is the base of the testing structure. The theory does  apply and, as far as maxims there is a lot of stuff I will never use  again but, it is on the test. Books can be outdated and some of mine  where. Just cross reference the new doc's and I had a frame of reference  of why the and what changed. Oh and just an FYI I took the VMware mock  test once before the test today and scored a 97.8% so do not get  discouraged. Also I would say I have atleast 60 hours in straight study time, for me getting out of my home / office was the most productive. With the money invested by company this was a test I couldn't fail.

I just wanted to say thank you.
