Hi all, newbie question on entry point

Hi all,

Currently I am doing my MCITP so once finished I should have a good understanding of configuring and administrating windows servers. After that I wanted to move onto VM Ware ESX. In terms of pre requisites can someone maybe point me in the right direction in prior training I need to under go as well as any useful literature.

On the VMWare site I looked as requirments and it said as well as Windows server I must have knowledge of NetApps... is that a course in itself or linked to the VMWare VSphere course?

If someone had any advice on setting out some sort of training/development, what courses I should do ect id be most grateful.

Thanks

Bav

our resident VCI, scott28tt, has a great blog, which would be a great starting point.

You may also want to look at the main documentation set for vSphere

Netapp could be refrencing the storage company.  Where on the site did you see that information?   Anyways, as Troy has said the vSphere documentation is a good start, I would download the trial software and build a test lab to get familiar with the products, and there are some entry level courses that can be taken.   Maybe review this site, http://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=12457&ui=www

The "foundation-level" vSphere course is Install Configure Manage: http://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrreg/courses.cfm?ui=www_edu&a=one&id_subject=19919

It qualifies you for VCP certification, and gives you a really good grounding in vSphere. I don't know where you read about NetApp experience being a pre-requisite...

You can download and evaluate vSphere, and all the vSphere documentation is available online too - you will get more out of any training course if you can prepare yourself in advance.

Scott.

Thanks for the replies. I will check those links later. I'll try and find the link where I saw NetApp listed as a pre requisite.
