Hi,
I failed my VCP-DT test at PEX... 285 (300 needed to pass). I didn't prepare for the exam at all, but I have done many View deployement... There was too many question,on feature that I didn't use a lot, so it didn't help me at all. I had 2 hours to kill at PEX, so I took the test as a 125$ mock test. I didnt not have much expectation about my success but I did hope.
Exam is not too hard, but it test thoroughly about the matter, so it is quite fair. I now know what to prepare. Also I learned at PEX that Linus Bourque (famous VMware trainer) will release a VCP-DT book this summer (VMware Press).
So I will perhaps wait for the book before retaking the exam.
LOL.. I'm not that famous! But yes, we are working on a VMware Press book for VCP-DT5 (current version). Details here: http://www.pearsonitcertification.com/store/vcp5-dt-official-cert-guide-with-dvd-vmware-certified-97...
Sorry to hear you didn't pass but it is a thorough exam. I'd definitely say that the blueprint for any of our exams definitely helps narrow studying focus to the topics that someone needs a little more prep on. Good luck on your next attempt and if there is anything I can do to help just let me know
Some of my friend from Quebec City told me that I should choose my class at PEX based on which one you are teaching I saw you often at Pex but too shy to say hello.
I have read the blueprint many time, I knew what to expect, but I had to much work in the weeks before PEX that I didn't studied.
As it was at 50% price, I told to myself that I will take the chance, but I did not expect to pass it. I wanted to have an idea of I was now and what kind of question the test will be.
I will look for your book, do you know if he will be available soon on Safari Online as a Rough Cuts ?
I think that if you cover the weak area, you can pass the exam on the next time.
Arguments (and maybe also some questions) remain the same.
I think this experience will help you next exam.
Good luck for the next exam.
Never be too shy to say hello. I always welcome the chance to talk to and help people out (a left over from my days at VMware's GSS team).
As for the book being available in Rough Cuts, I don't know to be honest. I don't believe so but I could be wrong.
