ECC RDIMM's or ECC UDIMM's

Hi

I have Dell t310 servers and planning to upgrade RAM on 2 servers, there are few questions i have , please help

1.Should i go for RDIMM's or UDIMM's ( RDIMM - 32gb max and UDIMM - 16gb max)

2. For home lab  would 16gb will be good enough for VCP and VCAP lab or should i go for 32gb each on both the servers. I am okay spending money but want to know is it worth it really to spend that much.

Please help

Type of RAM make the difference in performance... but not too much... so buy the less expensive Smiley Happy

About the amount of RAM, 16 GB could be enough, because you need at least:

  • 2 GB for the physical ESXi
  • 3 GB for the vCenter Server
  • (2-3) x 2 for two hosts

PS: note that VCAP4-DCA is based on one ESX and one ESXi hosts...
