Do i hold same VCP cert w/ both courses?

I am getting ready to sit the vcp510 which means its time to start looking at courses. Sorry if this has already been addressed(i did scroll through threads) but i just want to be clear on this. Do i hold the same VCP certifcation if i take the install, config, manage course as I would if i take the Fast Track course?

I work with vsphere everyday, read Brian Atkinsons study guide and plan to continue on to other pro certs so if its all the same i would rather save the money and take the Install course.

Thanks

Yes, as long as you pass the VCP5 exam and attend one of the qualifying courses you'll earn VCP5 certification. You can see all the requirements and qualifying courses online at www.vmware.com/go/vcp

Good luck on your exam. Jill

From the VCP requiments courses are the same.

Of course content are not the same.

If you already know well vSphere, than Fast Track could be a better choice.

Optimize & Scale is another qualifying class for VCP5 - and a good option if you feel like you are already skilled to VCP5 level but need a class to qualify for certification whilst learning lots of new tricks - and it will help with VCAP5-DCA too.

Hi

Do you already hold a VCP4 certification or is VCP5 your first? If you already hold the VCP4 accreditation then you only need to do the What's New course to allow you to gain the accreditation after passing the exam.

From my personal experience the fast track is much better if you aren't starting from scratch as you don't really want to spend loads of time going through the basics

Thanks for the info. I do not doubt that the fast track and optimize and scale are much more informative courses. I will probably sleep my way through half the install configure I'm sure but my thing is justifying the cost. There is so much cost effective material out there + real world experience on top of that.I just don't see the information in a 5 day course being worth 3.5k let alone another 2k on top of that. In the end I will end up with the same knowledge (and more) than any of the courses offer.

That is exactly why I suggested Optimize & Scale.

A VCP certification is a VCP certification, so long as you have attended one of the qualifying courses and passed the relevant VCP exam you are a VCP, there are however differing VCP versions now:

VCP-DT

VCP-IaaS

VCP-DV

All these have differing Exams but the same qualification regarding a course apply
