Course over - preparing for VCP-510 Exam

That's me done the course now for the Vmware 5.  The course had plenty of labs however I felt that they kind of skimmed over the exam blueprint and i guess it is upto myself now to go back and read the VCP study guide thoroughly.  I am in no way ready to sit the exam yet and I feel a big part of that is down to the fact that I don't use VMware in my work place.

I do have a lab setup at home - I followed these instructions:

However what is the best method of study?  I have just read a few posts from people saying they have failed the VCP as it was very practical based.  How would I go around creating lab scenarios?

My plan is to go through the book and then start on the CBT and TrainSignal videos and try to follow their labs as much as possible.

Build a lab and work through as many of the blueprint objectives as you can - use the blueprint as your guide.

Try and get your hands on Mastering vSphere 5 by Scott Lowe, lovely book and gives you a good in depth knowledge of the material.

It is a bit deep if you are only interested in VCP. It became my favorite while preparing for the exam and the go to book for any queries.

Apart from that setting up a lab is a must as mentioned by Scott.

the first one i also read good about it

the second one was also a recommendation of the trainer in the course

and the third one seems to be a recommendation of vmware, because it is listed on the education page here for the exam but it has also has fewest pages...

Hi - just to let you guys know that I passed my VCP-510 exam with a score of 470.  I can't begin to say how valuable the blueprint is.  Use that as a guide and you'll be fine.  Use the headings in the blueprint as a guide to what to fish for whilst studying.  Oh - and get as much hands on as possible!

Did you use Trainsignal or just studied from blue print and read the information in the tools?  Wondering because currently I am just going through the blue print and occasionally slip in a Trainsignal video.

hey - yeah I used the blueprint and also used Trainsignal and CBT videos too.  Setting up a VMware workstation lab is very handy though for hands on.
