VCDX5 Defence Dates?

Hi

When can we expect the release of the VCDX5 defence dates? I know it is likely to be after the VCAP5-DCA has gone GA and then there needs to be time for submissions etc but i was hoping to get a general idea so I could start trying to map out my time and certain milestones I need to get through in preparation for my possible submission and defence? I'm guessing VMworld is going to be too close to have one?

Thanks

If I may add: ...and locations!

As discussed during the bootcamp in Frankfurt, I know of very many people who would appreciate a defence in Australia if they are given enough advance warning.

Cheers

There was a rumor floating around twitter not long ago from @vcdx001 that there is a possibility of a defense in July in the UK, however nothing has been confirmed by VMware yet. The same rumor also stated that the defense may be an additional opportunity for VCDX4, however designs based on vSphere5 would be accepted.

I also think I heard that it isn't likely that there will be any more defenses at conference events like vmworld/pex.

Hi Wil

I heard that rumour too but so far it seems to just be a rumour and with the VCAP5-DCD now being available to sit and the DCA due out possibly in a few months surely the focus should be going to VCDX5 now?

Congrats on your new VCDX credential btw  If you can write up a "My journey to the VCDX" then i would love to add it to my VCDX5 page: http://thesaffageek.co.uk/vcdx-5-preparations-and-resource-page/

Regarding the will defenses at conference events like vmworld/pex, it is true for some time. The reason is that when you have a defense running together with a VMworld or PEX, you have a lot of smart guys locked in a room without presenting or interacting with customers.

I don't know about future dates, but I'd like to suggest to VMware a rotation regarding defense locations. Almost like the WorldCup Smiley Happy

We had one in Asia, then Europe, then North America... next ones can be in Oceania, Africa, Latin America...

Not doing them at big conferences does make sense i agree but the "problem" is a lot of us who are looking to do the VCDX are almost 100% engaged consultants/contractors who find it hard enough to get approval to go to VMworld etc nevermind flying out for a defence. As for locations I agree it should be spread around although i think a balance of where say most of the people loking to defend are from might be a good idea as it won't help many people if the defence is in Cape Town for example but 1 out of the 40 people who want to defend is from the southern hemisphere.

I would just like to know dates so i cna plan accordingly as obtaining the VCAP-DCA and DCD is a fairly long process so six months at least of planning will be needed.

My opinion though Smiley Happy
